Resurrection

i.

The universe doesn’t worship anything, not even itself.

The universe destroys everything, even itself.

 

ii.

I pulled over onto the shoulder of the road and stared into the woods.

This time, I really mean it, I thought to the dark.

The earth is cambrian in extinction and cretaceous in life,

although the rocks were here first and much longer.
